If a large number of hydrogen bonds are formed between the hair keratin proteins, the long curly hair extensions itself will produce more bending at the molecular level. At the macro level, this means that the curly hair will become more curved or unkempt because of the humidity. Just like having a metal coil, straightening the hair and then drying it is equivalent to pulling the metal coil completely straight; but if the weather is wet and the hair is easily bent, the water molecules are constantly absorbed by the hair and participate in the formation of hydrogen bonds.
